So pantry cars will be excluded from long distance trains

New Delhi, 30 September 2020, Wednesday

The pantry car is considered to be an important part of long distance trains for providing tea, snacks and meals to the passengers.

The All India Railwaymen's Federation has proposed the removal of the pantry car on the grounds of cleanliness. If the Railway Ministry accepts the proposal, the tradition of pantry cars may be abolished from trains in the near future.

According to a media report, the Railwaymen's Federation, the largest union of railway employees, has written a letter to the Railway Ministry saying that an AC coach could be installed instead of a pantry car, which would also increase train revenue. Meanwhile, railway authorities are seriously considering the proposal.

Earlier, the Railways had discontinued the practice of providing blankets in AC trains due to the Corona. Kitchens could be started at railway stations as part of its option as far as the pantry car is concerned. Nawar is getting up.
