Return possession of all temples destroyed by Mughals to Hindus: Former Shia Waqf Board chairman

Lucknow, 30 September 2020, Wednesday

Wasim Rizvi, the former chairman of the Shia Waqf Board, has written a letter to PM Modi demanding that the Place of Worship Act 1991 be repealed amid today's verdict on the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

He said that by abolishing this act, all the Hindu temples demolished during the Mughal period should be returned to the Hindu community and the pre-Mughal status should be restored. In 1991, the Congress enacted the Place of Worship Act 1991 because the Mughals Whatever mosques are built on it will remain intact and the controversy will always be alive.

Rizvi further alleged that the Congress government was pressured by the Muslim Personal Law Board and the fundamentalist clerics of Hindustan to enact the law. The Congress also enacted the law to appease the fundamentalists. But Hindus should return their temples and do justice. Should.

In the letter, Rizvi mentions nine mosques that were demolished, including the Krishna Temple in Mathura, the Atala Temple in Jaunpur, the Bhadrakali Temple in Gujarat, the Adina Mosque in West Bengal and the Qutub Minar in Delhi.

According to the Place of Worship Act of 1991, any place of worship will be in the same condition as it was at the time of independence.
