Oxygen blows in Corona's Kaher, shortage in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Ta. 10 September 2020, Thursday

Amid rising cases of corona in the country, there is a shortage of medical oxygen in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh is dependent on Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Maharashtra for this oxygen. On the other hand, Maharashtra has cut off the supply to Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh has reviewed the situation and has also spoken to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray about it. He said, "I have urged Uddhav Thackeray that it is not right to stop oxygen supply at this time. He has assured me to take appropriate action." Arrangements will be made to make 150 tonnes of oxygen available in the state by September 30.

It may be mentioned that Madhya Pradesh used to demand 20 tonnes of oxygen from Maharashtra. However, now the Maharashtra government has told the oxygen producing companies in the state that 80 per cent of the production will be used for treatment and only 20 per cent of the oxygen can be diverted to other districts.
