New Delhi Dated 26th September 2020 Saturday

A constable on duty at the Jahangirpura police station in the capital New Delhi seized 170 kilograms of cannabis from a drug peddler. But the report showed that he had seized only 920 grams of cannabis and sold the remaining cannabis along with his associates to earn millions of rupees.

As the scam unfolded, senior Delhi Police officials suspended two assistant police inspectors, a constable and a sepoy.

Speaking to media, ACP Vijayanta Arya of Northwest Delhi District Police said that on September 11, a constable of Jahangirpuri police station apprehended a peddler named Anil and seized 170 kg of cannabis from his house. The price of this cannabis in the international drug market was going to be millions of rupees.

The constable noted in the incident report that only 920 grams of marijuana was found. That is why Anil got bail easily. The constable, on the other hand, earned millions of rupees by selling the cannabis with the help of his colleagues. But as word of this reached top police officials, immediate action was taken against those responsible. Now the peddler Anil was being investigated. If Anil is found, legal action can be taken against those responsible. Otherwise it will be difficult to prove in court.
