Modi's visit to 58 countries in 4 years cost Rs. 517.82 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited 58 countries since 2015, at a cost of Rs 517.82 crore.

The information was given during the ongoing monsoon session in Parliament amid the Corona crisis. In response to a question from the Opposition in Parliament, the External Affairs Ministry said that Rs 517.82 crore had been spent on Modi's foreign tour since 2015.

The ministry also said that a number of agreements have been signed with these countries, including trade, investment and defense, during the foreign tour. Modi has visited 58 countries since 2015, though he has not been able to travel abroad this year due to the Koro epidemic.

No other major foreign leader has been able to visit India since US President Donald Trump arrived in the country in February. Narendra Modi is currently unable to go abroad but he is in touch with foreign leaders through video conferencing. He is also scheduled to address the United Nations by video conference this week.

Giving details of the expenditure incurred on Modi's foreign tour, the External Affairs Ministry said that the highest expenditure was Rs 121.85 crore during 2015-16 while Rs 78.52 crore was incurred in 2016-17.

99.90 crore during 2017-18, 100 crore in 2018-19 was spent on foreign travel. The figures could also go up as bills for some of Modi's visits have yet to be received, the ministry said.

India helped 80 countries, including China, with Rs 80 crore

According to the External Affairs Ministry, India has also provided assistance to a number of countries amid the Koro crisis. A total of 150 countries have received medicine, hospital assist devices. At the same time, Rs 80 crore has been provided to 80 countries, including China. Meanwhile, India also got help from Japan, America, France, Germany and Israel. In the ongoing border dispute with China, the government has said that India has provided assistance of Rs 80 crore to 80 countries, including China.
