Some BJP leaders themselves had termed the central government's agriculture bill as anti-farmer. In particular, two BJP leaders from Haryana had publicly condemned the agriculture bill. The two leaders Parminder Singh Dhul and Rampal Majra told the media that the government should talk to the agitating farmers. Nowhere in the bill is the minimum support price mentioned. The bill was anti-farmer.

Parminder Singh Dhule said that this bill is against the views of Sir Chhotu Ram so we cannot support it. He claimed that it was the farmers who had contributed so much to the survival of the country when the corona virus struck and the country faced a severe economic crisis. Today when farmers are on the streets the government does not listen to them. Dhule also claimed that we had spoken to Haryana BJP state president OP Dhankad on the issue. The bill must clearly state the minimum support price. Only then can the farmers believe that this bill is in our interest.

Another BJP leader Rampal Majra said the government needs to listen to the farmers. It should not happen that in the future a poor farmer has to fight against a big company. Even if we belong to BJP. We will speak out against anything that is going wrong.

The biggest protests against the three agricultural bills passed by the central government were in Punjab and Haryana. More than 15 farmers' unions today declared a shutdown in Punjab, Haryana and the rest of the country. Farmers in Punjab and Haryana in particular stopped trains. The unions urged the President not to sign the bill as it was against the farmers.
