-Relationships with Gulf countries will improve
Washington Wednesday, September 16, 2020
Israel signed historic agreements with the Gulf states, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain. Till yesterday there was a fierce animosity between Israel and the Arab countries.
Representatives of the three countries signed the landmark agreement at the White House, the office of US President Donald Trump, on Tuesday. The US President expressed happiness over the agreement. In addition, the two Arab states normalized relations with Israel and formally recognized Israel.
Until yesterday, the Arab countries did not accept Israel as an independent nation. Trump described the agreement as "historic" and hoped it would establish a new order in West Asia. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani were present on the occasion. The agreement was named the Abraham Accord.
Until now, the Arab countries have been reluctant to accept Israel and accept it as an independent sovereign state.
