New Delhi, 18 September 2020, Friday

The World Bank has ranked India 116th in the Human Capital Index. India is ranked 174th in the world. However, India's score has seen a slight increase compared to 2018. According to the World Bank's Human Capital Index, India's score is 0.49 while in 2018 it was 0.44.

The World Bank has included the education and health data of 174 countries in the 2020 Human Capital Index. These 174 countries have 98 percent of the total population. Prior to Corona, that is, until March 2020, the Human Capital Index focuses on education and health care for children. According to the Human Capital Index, most countries have made steady progress, while low-income countries have made big leaps.

Earlier, in a report released by the World Bank in 2019, India was ranked 115th out of 157 countries. The central government then questioned the World Bank's index. The central government said the World Bank had ignored the country's policy of getting the poor out of the crisis.
