Jaipur Dated 25th September 2020 Friday

In Rajasthan, agitators on the issue of teacher recruitment blocked National Highway No. 8 and caused a traffic jam. On their way to disperse them, the men hurled stones at the police and blew up several vehicles.

As late as 2018, these people have been demanding the recruitment of reserved candidates to fill the vacancies of non-reserved teachers. The state government did not take any decision on the issue so the protesters dispersed and hurled stones at the police force that came to disperse them. Simultaneously several vehicles were blown up. Police vehicles were also badly damaged.

Unreserved positions were vacated for third grade teachers. The agitation has been going on for the last two years with a demand to recruit tribal and other tribal candidates. In the Dungarpur area, tribals and other pedestrians have been camping on the highway for the last 18 days. Police had to take action after traffic on the highway came to a standstill. A number of policemen, including the Additional Commissioner of Police, were injured in the stoning.
