Beirut, Ta. Thursday, September 10, 2020

The smoke from last month's fire in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, has not diminished, and on the other hand, it has made Beirut sleepless. A fire on August 4 killed 200 people and destroyed hundreds of homes.

Once again, residents of Beirut were left in a state of panic after a fire broke out in the port city of Beirut. Authorities were unable to determine the cause of the blaze.

The fire that erupted today reminded people of last month's devastating fire and people fled the area around the port in panic. Black smoke was seen emanating from a godown at the port this afternoon. The whole capital was covered with smoke. Ambulance sirens were heard from all sides.

Army helicopters were also deployed to put out the blaze. The Lebanese army said the blaze started at a warehouse in the duty free zone where oil and tires were kept. The people of Beirut, who were trying to forget last month's fire, looked terrified.

A video footage circulating on social media showed port workers fleeing the blaze. The townspeople had opened their windows and were sending messages to each other to avoid new dangers.

Due to today's fire, the army had closed all the roads leading to the port. A fire in an ammonia godown near the same port 40 days ago destroyed hundreds of homes in Beirut. People blamed the government's negligence for the tragedy.

All government ministers had also resigned. The fire of August 4th will always be remembered in the history of Lebanon. People had heard the sound of the explosion for miles. The government ordered an investigation into the incident. Experts from Italy and France were called in to fight the blaze.
