Hathras gangrape case: Prime Minister Modi talks to Yogi Adityanath


-Uttar Government forms Special Investigative Team

-Order to complete the investigation in seven days

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a conversation with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about the incident of breaking the spinal cord and cutting off the tongue of a Dalit child after he was gang-raped in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. He is said to have advised the yogi to be vigilant about the rising crime in Uttar Pradesh. He also said two words to the yogi about the gangrape victim.

Yogi Adityanath announced the formation of a Special Investigative Team (SIT) of the state police to investigate the case. Yogi urged the team to complete the investigation and submit a report within seven days. The leadership of the three-member team was handed over to Home Secretary Bhagwan Swarup. He was accompanied by Deputy Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police Chandra Prakash and Agra Poonam of the Provincial Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, amidst protests by villagers, the state police cremated a Dalit child who was gangraped at midnight on Tuesday. However, the case sparked protests in the capital New Delhi and elsewhere. Amidst fierce protests, the state police conducted the funeral of the Dalit girl at around 3 pm without worrying about her family. Police were on high alert in view of the outrage.

So far, four Thakur youths have been arrested in the case. Meanwhile, the girl died at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Tuesday morning. Protests soon broke out in Delhi and the dying girl was described as fearless of Hathras.

The incident was noted by the Prime Minister's Office and this morning the Prime Minister himself discussed the matter with Yogi Adityanath over phone.
