Patna, Ta. 27 September 2020, Sunday

Former Bihar DGP Gupteswar Pandey on Sunday joined the Janata Dal United (JDU). Gupteswar Pandey has taken over the JDU membership at his residence in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. After joining the JDU, Gupteswar Pandey said, "Nitish Kumar is our leader. I will abide by whatever order is given by him and the party." It may be mentioned that DGP Gupteswar Pandey has voluntarily retired a few days back. There was a lot of speculation that Gupteswar Pandey, who was retiring before the Assembly elections, would join the JDU.

Now that Gupteswar Pandey has joined the JDU, there is talk that he will contest the Assembly elections. Apart from this, the political atmosphere in Bihar has also heated up after this incident. Earlier, there was talk that Gupteswar Pandey might join the BJP, but he has opted for the JDU.

Gupteswar Pandey said that if the party asks him to contest, he will also contest. People from every district of Bihar call me and tell me to contest from our district. "I am a pure man, I don't know what politics is," he said. It may be recalled that just a day earlier, Gupteswar Pandey had met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Pandey then said that he had come to thank the Chief Minister.
