New Delhi Dated 26th September 2020 Saturday

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Friday launched a massive project to build a large-scale Pinaka missile at home using indigenous equipment. It sent all the details it had prepared to The Directorate of Quality Assurance (DGQA).

DGQA works to check the quality of all products made for the defense of the country. That is why it is necessary to send full details to DGQA before making any new weapon. These details include Pinaka missiles, missile launchers, battery command posts, etc.

Pinaka is a free flight artillery rocket system with a range of thirty-seven and a half kilometers. Pinaka rockets are fired by multi-barrel rocket launchers. In just 44 seconds this rocket launcher can launch 12 rockets that pierce the target. The DRDO recently successfully tested a laser-powered anti-tank missile at a firing range in the Ahmednagar area of Maharashtra. The missile could pierce a target four kilometers away, a spokesman said. The anti-tank missile was tested by Arjun Tank on the 23rd of this month at the KK Range of the Armed Corps Center and School in Ahmednagar. The experiment was a success.

A spokesman for the Indian Army said the laser-powered anti-tank missiles could significantly increase the army's combat capability. The Arjun Tank was also built by DRDO. It is considered the main battle tank. The anti-tank missile was developed by the Weapon Research and Development Organization in Pune, Maharashtra.
