Dawood's fellow gangster Mirchi's family's assets worth Rs 203 crore seized

The ED has started the process of confiscating the family property of gangster Iqbal Mirchi. The ED has now seized assets worth about Rs 203 crore from Iqbal Mirchi's family.

The property is located in Dubai and is named after the family of gangster Iqbal Mirchi. In the money laundering case, the ED has now seized the property and taken further action.

The foreclosed property also includes 15 commercial and residential properties. It also includes a hotel known as the Midwest Hotel Apartment. About Rs 203.27 crore worth of such assets have been seized under the Money Laundering Act.

The ED said the property was earlier in the name of a company owned by DHFL promoters Wadhwan Brothers Kapil Wadhwan and Dheeraj Wadhwan. They have transferred the property in the name of Iqbal Mirchi.

Surprisingly, however, the Wadhwan Brothers also hired another Dewan Housing Finance Ltd. (DHFL) was involved in a money laundering case and was arrested.

In 2013, gangster Iqbal Mirchi was killed. Meanwhile, there are reports that the property was bequeathed to his family. Iqbal Mirchi was close to Dawood Ibrahim and in London, Dubai he witnessed Dawood Ibrahim's illegal work on a large scale and was also an international drug dealer. He had assets in London, Dubai and Mumbai.

The case filed by Mumbai Police against Iqbal Mirchi also includes his family members such as his son and wife. A Mumbai court has issued non-bailable warrants against Mirchi's sons Asif Memon and Junaid Memon and his wife Hajra Memon on the basis of the chargesheet.
