Uttarakhand has been receiving torrential rains for the last few days. This led to an increase in landslides on the Badrinath Highway at any time.

The area was also hit by a cliff on Monday evening. As a result, Badrinath Highway was closed for vehicular traffic. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides. Hundreds of people spent Tuesday night in their cars.

The government of Uttarakhand worked almost all day to remove the cliff lying on the highway by JCB machines. However, the Badrinath Highway was not open for traffic till Wednesday morning.

For the last several days, landslides have been taking place at one place or another in Uttarakhand. Earlier, a cliff collapsed in Pithoragarh area. The cliff then collapsed on the Gangotri Highway. Now a cliff had collapsed on the Badrinath Highway. Thus, almost every other day in this Tirthdham area, hundreds of vehicles get stuck when a cliff collapses at one place or another.

However, experts believe that there is no way to stop the flow of water due to deforestation. The cliff was collapsing near the tremendous pressure of the water.
