An area of Ladakh that has not been visited by Indian troops for 15 years

Ladakh, Ta. 17. Thursday 2020 September

Clashes between the Indian and Chinese armies on the Ladakh front in the Galwan Valley and the Pangong Lake area have been highlighted, but on the LAC in Ladakh itself, Dapsong has hardly been noticed.

The aggression of Chinese troops is rarely mentioned here. As security experts say, India has not lost ground in Depsong but the Indian Army has not been able to set foot in its own territory for the last 15 years.

According to the official, China has deployed two brigades in the Depsong Plains area, which has halted the traditional patrolling by India in the area of 10 to 13 petrol points.

This area is very important for India because Daulat Bagh Oldi, a strategically important place of India near Karakoram Pass to the east of here is only 30 kilometers away. This is the only area in the hilly region of Ladakh where the land is perfectly flat .

Despite having an Indian Army base nearby, India has not been able to navigate parts of the Depsang Plains for 15 years. The area is about 972 square kilometers. Now Indian troops are stopped by Chinese troops going from 10 to 13 patrol points.
