West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that 75 per cent of our students could not sit for the JEE-NEET exam because of Corona. We had repeatedly requested the Central Government to postpone this examination but the Central Government was adamant. Our request was not heeded by the Central Government.

Mamata called the central government "arrogant" and "stubborn" and alleged that even in other states, barely fifty per cent of the students could appear for the JEE-NEET exams. We requested the Central Government to reconsider and take into account the plight of the students even if the Supreme Court has directed them to take this exam. But the central government did as expected. Neither our nor other states' requests were heeded. Thousands of our students who failed the JEE-NEET exams were frustrated.

Mamata claimed that we had made all the arrangements as per the instructions of the central government but the students could not reach the examination centers. A total of 4,652 students were to appear for JEE-NEET in the state. Out of these only 1167 i.e. only twenty five percent students could appear for this exam. The remaining 75 percent are disappointed. Mamata also alleged that the BJP-led central government did not take into account any of our concerns.

He said the government could have postponed the exams for a while. There was nothing wrong with that. But the center lost its ego. That ego ruined the future of thousands of students.
