Three countries slapped America in the face, only China deserved it

Beijing, Ta. Saturday 22 August 2020

China's state-run newspaper Global Times has lashed out at the United States after Britain, Germany and France rejected plans to re-impose sanctions on Iran. The Global Times says Britain, Germany and France have slapped the United States in the face for rejecting a plan to re-impose sanctions on Iran, and the United States deserves it.

It is worth noting that Britain, Germany and France originally issued a joint statement on Thursday rejecting plans to re-impose sanctions on Iran. The Chinese newspaper says this is the most special situation since the 2003 Iraq war when the United States was told "no" by its European allies. That leaves America alone on the issue of Iran.

The sanctions imposed on Iran by the United Nations are due to expire on October 18. The United States has proposed to the UN that it re-impose sanctions on Iran, but only Dominica has backed it. The United States withdrew from the nuclear deal with Iran in May 2018. China says the United States has no right to impose sanctions on Iran because of this, but the US is acting like a gangster.

It was President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the nuclear deal with Iran. It threatens Europe's security because of its proximity to Iran. In addition, Europe's business interests are tied to Iran's.
