The rains claimed three lives in Rajasthan, two each in Assam and Himachal Pradesh

Heavy to very heavy rains lashed several states in the country on Friday. Rains-related incidents killed three people in Rajasthan while two people were swept away in floods in Assam.

Two people were killed when a rock fell on a car due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. On the other hand, 13 NDRF teams were deployed in Gujarat following heavy rain forecast. More than 29,000 people have been affected in four districts as floodwaters inundated Assam.

Heavy rains in several areas in Rajasthan, including Jaipur, on Friday inundated several low-lying areas and disrupted normal life. In Jaipur, torrential rains in three hours turned roads into rivers in many places. In some places, vehicles, including cars, were strained.

Jaipur received a record 80 mm of rain between 8.30 am and 11.30 am, the meteorological department said. As a result, many people had to be evacuated. 127 mm in Shabad Baran district, 124 mm in Dausa, 101 mm in Karauli and 76 mm in Bamanwas. It rained. The meteorological department had forecast heavy to very heavy rains in Jaipur in the next few days.

In Assam, on the other side of the country, torrential rains also inundated new areas, putting people in trouble. More than 11,000 people have been forced to evacuate in Assam's Dhemji and Baksa districts. Heavy rains also inundated low-lying areas in many parts of Odisha.

The meteorological department has issued 'Orange Warning' in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Sambalpur, Angul and Devgarh. In Uttar Pradesh, more than 650 villages in 15 districts have been affected by the floods and 384 of them have become bats. On the other hand, two people were killed when a cliff collapsed due to heavy rains in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
