Discussions in the commission to hold elections in two to three phases, and guidelines tomorrow

Guidelines for Bihar Assembly elections may be released on Friday. Sources say the election could take place in 2 to 3 phases. Elections are expected to be held in Bihar by the end of November. Sources also say that the possibility of an election to impose presidential rule in Bihar is being ruled out.

Sources said there is a discussion among the Election Commission that polling in Bihar should be held in two-three phases. In such a scenario, there is a possibility that, if the election is held in two or three phases, the announcement may be delayed. The 2015 assembly elections were announced on September 9. Meanwhile, elections were held in six phases in Bihar.

According to sources, the Election Commission may issue the election manifesto on or around September 20. Detailed guidelines on how to conduct the voting process during the Corona period can be issued. That guide could be out by Friday evening. The Election Commission has had lengthy discussions on the guidelines.

The Election Commission will meet all the DMs of Bihar

Sources said a meeting on the Bihar elections would begin at the Election Commission office in Delhi on Friday afternoon. This can be sealed with a detailed guide. The guide will contain detailed information about the method of campaigning, voting process for the elderly, etc. Sources also said that the Election Commission may hold a meeting with all the district collectors of Bihar through video conference on Monday.
