The Cricket Board of India has not paid salaries to cricketers for 10 months

The Cricket Board of India is considered to be the richest cricket board in the world but you would be surprised to know that the board has not paid salaries to Indian cricketers for the last 10 months.

There are 27 players on contract with the board who have been waiting for their salaries since last October. They also have to pay match fees.

The board pays the contract amount to the contracted players four times a year in installments. This amount is still outstanding and the match fees of the players have not been paid yet. After December, Team India played two Tests, nine ODIs and eight T20 Internationals. So the players are not paid.

According to a report published in an English newspaper, the board has to pay a total of Rs 99 crore. Among those who have not received the money are star players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Bumrah who are involved in A-plus contracts. Similarly, Rs 5 crore in Grade A, Rs 3 crore in Grade B and Rs 1 crore in Grade C are given to the player.

According to the BCCI's balance sheet, Rs 5,536 crore has been deposited in the board's bank accounts till March 2018, including FDs worth Rs 2,292 crore.
