One militant was killed and two others were seriously injured when Indian troops foiled an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, security forces said on Sunday.

Terrorists tried to infiltrate the Krishna Valley sector on Friday, Jammu-based PRO Lt Col Devender Anand said. Pakistan, on the other hand, also fired provocatively at the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, to which Indian forces responded with a barrage. There was also a scuffle between security forces and militants in Kulgam on Sunday morning.

Lef. Colonel Devender Anand said that after a skirmish with the militants in the Krishna Valley sector in Poonch district, security forces were investigating the incident and found traces of a dead body of the militants. In addition, an AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines and some Pakistani-branded food items were recovered from the spot.

Pakistani forces, on the other hand, continued their provocative shelling on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, to which Indian forces responded with a barrage of fire, a defense spokesman said. However, no damage was reported.

At 6.45 am, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire by launching provocative shelling in the Mankot sector and dropping mortars. Later at 5.50 pm, Pakistan opened fire and mortar shells with small arms in Shahpur, Kirni and Krishna Valley areas.

Meanwhile, clashes broke out between militants and security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The ambush continued late into the night as the militants opened fire on security forces during a search operation. However, no details have been made available.

Meanwhile, militants attacked Abdul Hamid Nazar, a BJP activist in Budgam district. He was rushed to a hospital. His condition is serious. Many leaders are leaving the party in the wake of terrorist attacks on BJP leaders and activists in Jammu and Kashmir.

Four BJP leaders from Budgam district resigned from the party after an attack on a BJP worker on Sunday. Earlier, other Sruthanik leaders, including a BJP sarpanch from Devsar in Kulgam, had resigned from the party after a BJP sarpanch was killed by terrorists in Vesu village in Kulgam.
