Supreme Court rejects Vijay Mallya's contempt plea

Fugitive industrialist Vijay Mallya has been given a major tweak by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has rejected the plea of ​​Vijay Mallya, who was convicted in the contempt case. He called for a reconsideration of the 2007 contempt judgment. On August 27, the Supreme Court reserved its decision in the case.

Mallya had filed an application in the Supreme Court on May 9, 2007 seeking reconsideration of the decision. He pleaded guilty to defying a court order by transferring કરોડ 40 million to his son's account, setting aside judicial orders.

On August 27, Judge Yu Yu Lalit and Judge Ashok Bhushan reserved their decision on the matter. The court showed its registry in June and asked why Vijay Mallya had not filed a reconsideration petition before the court in the last three years. He asked the registry to provide all the information including the names of the officers who have seen the application in the relevant files in the last 3 years.

Mallya did not appear in court

The Supreme Court said in July 2017 that the decision on Mallya's sentence would be taken after his extradition. The Center ordered that when Vijay Mallya is brought to India, he should be produced before the Supreme Court.

Mallya did not appear in court even after the Supreme Court order. On May 9, 2007, the Supreme Court convicted Mallya of contempt of court. He did not show the exact figure of the property. The court did not order him to appear in the Supreme Court on July 10.

However, in April 2017, the Supreme Court reserved its order against Vijay Mallya for contempt of court and the 40 40 million he received from the Diego deal. Banks are demanding 40 40 million from the Jo Diego deal. He was submitted to the registry by the Supreme Court.

Vijay Mallya, who is accused of embezzling more than Rs 9,000 crore in bank debt and fraud, is currently living in the UK. The apex court passed the order in 2017 on the application of a group of banks headed by State Bank of India.

The petition alleges that Mallya allegedly transferred 4 40 million from British company Diageo to his sons' accounts in blatant violation of various judicial orders.
