The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) 2020 draft brought by the Narendra Modi government from the Center is being criticized all around. Opposition parties and social activists raising environmental issues are also protesting. Now Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi has written an article on the issue in which she has strongly criticized the Modi government's policy.

"If you protect nature, it will protect you," Sonia Gandhi wrote in an English newspaper. The recent outbreak of the corona virus in the world gives a new lease of life to human beings, in which we have a duty to protect the environment.

"Our country has sacrificed the environment for the race for development, but there must be a limit to this," Sonia wrote. The record of this government in the last 6 years has been one that has no idea of ​​protecting the environment, in today's world we are far behind. The government was supposed to think because of the epidemic but it is being ignored.

Targeting the coal mines, the Congress president said that no one was being consulted after the notification of the EIA. Narendra Modi's track record as CM of Gujarat so far has been poor in terms of environment, yet the government is flouting the rules in the name of Ease of Doing Business.

Apart from the environment, Sonia Gandhi also lashed out at the government on the issue of tribals, the Congress president wrote that the UPA had passed the X which was changed by the government. Indira Gandhi has been raising the issue of forest conservation for a long time, and the Congress has been moving about the same.

"The central government has only benefited rich businessmen in the name of reform but now is the time when we have to invest in public health," she wrote.

The Congress president demands that small businesses should be subsidized, no one is opposed to bringing in a new environmental policy but this should be brought about in a scientific way by talking to people and experts.
