Patanjali was fined Rs one lakh by the Madras High Court

-The company is taking advantage of people's fear of Corona

-Coronil only seems to work in colds

The Madras High Court had imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Baba Ramdev's Patanjali company and said that the drug which the company treats as coronal in the name of coronal is only a medicine for cold-cough and fever. The High Court said in no uncertain terms that Patanjali's company was taking advantage of Corona's fears.

The High Court also urged Patanjali not to use the name Coronil. Earlier Patanjali had promoted coronil as a medicine for corona. Patanjali claimed that the drug was an immunity buster when the central government stopped the campaign.

Ardura Engineering, a Chennai-based company, had filed a petition in the High Court seeking that Coronil be a registered trademark of one of our products. We registered this name as far back as 1993 and we have been given a certificate from the trademark registrar stating that this will be our trademark till 2027. Patanjali cannot use this name. She was committing a crime by violating our trademark.

Justice CV Karthikeyan, who is hearing the case, said the problem was solved by the defense, namely Patanjali Ayurveda. The name he wanted to use was not registered in the name of any other company and Patanjali misused the name without checking.

The High Court also said that Patanjali had tried to take advantage of the fear that was currently prevailing in the minds of the Aam Aadmi. The central government itself said the drug was not Corona's. How can an immunity booster be called a corona drug?

The High Court had imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on Patanjali.
