Operators will be able to charge private trains as much as they like

New Delhi Dated 1st August 2020 Saturday

The news that the central government plans to hand over the operation of 151 private trains on Indian Railways' 109 route to private companies on a 35-year contract is now well known. On Friday, some such operators sought some information from the central government. One such question was about rent.

In response to a question, the Railway Ministry said that private operators would be able to fix train fares at their discretion based on the facilities and amenities they provide. The government will not hit anyone in the head.

Private operators do not even need the permission of the Central Government or any State Government to fix the fare. Anyone who can afford your fare will travel in your trains. You can decide the fare of your train according to the market price. No one's approval is required for that.

Recently, a train named Tejas ran between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The Railway Ministry plans to allow another one and a half hundred such trains to run on a total of 109 routes. Private operators will be allowed to run private trains for a period of thirty-five years.

A meeting of some such operators was held on Friday in which some questions were put to the railways. One such question was travel fares. In reply, the Railways said that you can decide the fare of your train at your discretion. The government will not interfere in this.

Asked what we should do if an NGO challenges your decision in court, a Railway spokesperson said, "No one can go to court against you, so the central government will soon get the resolution approved by the Cabinet, so don't worry."
