(PTI) New Delhi, Ta. Tuesday, August 25, 2020

Corona cases are on the rise in the country. The highest number of 71,867 cases of corona was reported in a single day on Tuesday while 1188 more patients died. This brings the total number of corona cases to 32,25301 while the death toll is 59,523. However, a total of 24,60,309 corona patients have recovered in the country so far, PTI's state-wise tele said.

The ICMR said that it was not the youth or the elderly but the careless people who were responsible for the increasing cases of corona in the country. Experts from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that careless people who do not wear masks are spreading the Koro epidemic in India.

Director General of ICMR Dr. Balram Bhargava said that in India, neither the young nor the old but careless people who do not wear masks are responsible for the spread of corona. He added that India is the front runner for three corona vaccines. The Serum Institute vaccine is in Phase 2 (B) and Phase 3 trials. India Biotech and Zydus Cadila vaccines have completed the Phase-1 trial.

In India, meanwhile, the highest number of 70,276 corona patients have been released in a single day. With this, 24.60 lakh patients of Corona have recovered in the country and they have been discharged from the hospital. Thus, the recovery rate has been 76.28 while the active cases in the total cases of Corona have been only 22.24 per cent. The recovery rate in the country has been more than 100 per cent in the last 25 days, the health ministry said.

Corona's mortality rate dropped sharply to 1.84 percent on Tuesday. The number of recovering patients in the country is 3.41 times more than the active cases of corona. The strategic measures taken by the Central Government and its effective implementation by the States are responsible for the overall good performance of Corona in India as compared to other countries in the world.

The health ministry added that 37 million tests have been performed on corona in India so far. The testing rate per 1 million people in the country is 26,685 while the positivity rate among those tested has declined by 8.60 per cent. India has focused on a 'test, track and treat' strategy to gain control over the Corona.
