Nihang Sikhe, 75, pulled a ten-ton truck

-Campaigns to make the youth drug free

-The drug menace in Punjab has reached alarming levels

Amritsar Saturday 15th August 2020 Saturday

A 75-year-old Nihang Sikh pulled a truck of ten tonnes to inspire the youth of Punjab. (One ton means one thousand kilos. Ten tons means ten thousand kilos.) Coincidentally, this Sikh's own name is also Nihang Singh.

For the last few years, the youth of Punjab have been addicted to drugs. Fugitive Don Dawood Ibrahim, who lives in the Karachi area of Pakistan, is believed to be responsible. Dawood smuggles drugs into Punjab from the borders of Punjab. Its agents and carriers prey on the youth of Punjab. This would not have been known so soon.

But at least since 2014, the Indian Army chief has noted the fact that Punjab has lagged behind in terms of recruitment. There was a time when the largest number of Indian soldiers were from Punjab. His physical fitness was more than the youth of other states of the country. His endurance and ability to run with heavy weapons was more than the youth of all the states of the country. But that tradition has broken over the past decade. The youth of Punjab, who are number one in the recruitment of Indian Army held every year, failed in many recruitment tests. Military officials were also shocked.

Nihang Singh pulled a ten tonne truck in an attempt to free the youth of Punjab from drugs. Talking to media, the elder said, "I want to tell the youth of Punjab that if I can pull a ten ton truck at the age of 35, what can you not do?" You can tackle any challenge in the world. The only condition is that you have to give up the drug. Get up, get rid of the drug monster and become a male Sikh once again. I saw many young people being ruined by drugs. So to motivate them I started practicing weight lifting. Started by pulling a hundred kg weight with his teeth. Today I have reached ten thousand kilos. If the youth take any inspiration from this venture of mine, my masculinity will be meaningful.
