Kathmandu, Ta. 3 August 2020, Monday

Once again, Nepal's controversial statement has come to the fore. According to Nepal, Champawat district is located in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state. This claim has been made by the mayor of Bhimdatta municipality of Kanchanpur district of Nepal. According to him, Champawat district has been a part of Nepal for years because the community forest committee set up for its forests falls under his municipal area.

According to a report, according to Surendra Bisht, mayor of Bhimdatta municipality in Kanchanpur district of Nepal, some of the forests in Champawat district, which falls under the Kumaon area of Uttarakhand, come under his municipality. According to the claim made by Surendra Bisht, the community forest committee formed in the forests of Champawat has been working under Bhimdatta municipality for many years. The municipality also built a wooden fence in the area several years ago which was recently replaced for the old one.

According to sources in Champawat district, about Rs 45 lakh was spent on the construction of the wooden fence. Mayor Surendra Bisht, when asked about the basis of this claim, replied that the area fenced was 'No Man's Land'. Bisht further said that the situation is very clear and they do not want a dispute over the border as it is not good for anyone. But they want the case resolved soon.

A few days ago, there was a border dispute at Tanakpur in Champawat district. At that time Nepali citizens occupied Pillar No. 811. He claims that the pillar is in 'No Man's Land'. Later, when the Indian security personnel took him to Toki and lodged a complaint with the Nepali authorities, the Nepali officials went to the spot and talked to the Indian officials. A meeting between Indian and Nepali officials will now be held in the next few weeks over the space.
