Injured BJP leader from Jammu and Kashmir Abdul Hameed Nazar dies, attacked by terrorists

Budgam on 10 August 2020 Monday

BJP leader Abdul Hameed Nazar of Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam area died this morning while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The militants opened fire on him on Sunday and he was rushed to a hospital for immediate treatment. Even after tireless efforts, the doctors could not save him. The militants were now preying on leaders of various parties in Jammu and Kashmir due to the crackdown on militants by the Indian Army. One Congress and one BJP sarpanch were shot dead last week. Nazar was attacked on Sunday. Nazar was the OBC (backward class) leader of the BJP.

On Sunday morning, as Nazar was out for a morning walk, the militants seized the opportunity and opened fire on him. Police said Nazar left without his bodyguards on Sunday morning, giving the militants a good chance. He opened fire on Nazar near Budgam railway station. However, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack. This was the third attack on political activists and leaders by terrorists in the last fortnight.

One year has passed since the repeal of Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir, but the terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir have not stopped and the infiltration of terrorists has not stopped. The police and the Indian Army were working tirelessly.

A military official said in no uncertain terms that the militants could not have carried out the attack without the support of locals. First of all there was an urgent need to take the locals into confidence. Terrorist attacks can be stopped only if the trust of the local people is won.
