Gifts to 8.5 crore farmers amid Koro crisis, PM Modi gives Rs 17,000 crore

New delhi date. Sunday, August 9, 2020

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced financial facilities under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund. Prime Minister Modi announced various features of the PM-Kisan scheme through video conferencing. At the same time, the Prime Minister has allocated Rs 17,000 crore for more than 8.5 crore farmers under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund in a virtual program.

The Prime Minister said that today is Halashsti, the birthday of Lord Balram. Happy Birthday to all the countrymen, especially to the farmer comrades. On the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Halashsti and Lord Balram, a special fund of Rs one lakh crore has been launched to set up agricultural facilities in the country.

Transfer the amount to the farmer's account

"I am very pleased to be able to transfer Rs 17,000 crore as PM Kisan Sanman Nidhi to the accounts of 8.5 crore farming families," the Prime Minister said. Satisfaction is that the goal of this plan is being achieved. In the last one and a half years, Rs 75,000 crore has been directly deposited in farmers' bank accounts through this scheme. Of this, Rs 22,000 crore has reached farmers during the lockdown due to Corona.

Inaugurating the scheme, the Prime Minister said that the scheme would provide Rs 1 lakh crore to farmers 'groups, farmers' committees, FPOs in villages for setting up warehouses, setting up cold storages and setting up food processing industries. First e-NAM created a large technology based system. Now by making a law the farmers were exempted from the market area and from the market tax area.

Farmers now have many options

The Prime Minister said that now the farmers have many options. They can do this even if they want to trade the produce from their own farm. Or traders and organizations associated with e-NAM directly from the warehouse, will be able to bargain the crop with those who offer higher prices. There has been more abuse than using this law. This has increased the fear of traders and investors in the country. Now the trade associated with agriculture has also been freed from this system of fear.

The Prime Minister said that now we are moving towards a situation where food based products from the agro-industries of the village will go to the city and other industrial goods from the cities will come to the village. This is the resolve of the Self-Reliant India Campaign for which we have to work. Just two days ago, a huge scheme involving small farmers of the country was launched which will benefit the entire country in the near future. The country's first 'Kisan Rail' has been launched between Maharashtra and Bihar.

Employment-self-employment opportunities will increase

The Prime Minister said that now that the reach of small farmers to the big cities of the country has increased, they will move towards growing fresh vegetables, encouraging animal husbandry and fisheries. It will open up more revenue streams in less land, open up many new employment and self-employment opportunities. No matter how many steps are being taken, the picture of the country's rural economy will change in the 21st century, and agricultural income will increase manifold. Every decision taken now will create widespread employment closer to the village in the future. It is our farmers who did not allow the country to have food and drink problems during the lockdown. When there was a lockdown in the country, our farmers were growing crops in the fields and setting new sowing records.
