Freedom of expression in jeopardy, dictatorship dominating democracy: Attack on Sonia Gandhi's government

New delhi date. Saturday, August 29, 2020

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has slammed the Centre's Modi government without naming names. In a video message sent on the occasion of the groundbreaking of the new Chhattisgarh Assembly building in New Raipur on Saturday, the government was indirectly attacked. "Our ancestors like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Baba Saheb Ambedkar may not have thought that after 75 years of independence, the country's constitution and democracy would be threatened and democratic institutions destroyed," he said. Sonia Gandhi accused anti-national and anti-poor forces of spreading hatred and violence in the country.

He further said that efforts have been made to derail the country for some time now. New challenges are coming to our democracy. Those in power are spreading hatred and violence. Freedom of expression is at stake. Democracy is dominated by dictatorship. They want to suppress the voice of the people. Young people, tribals, women, farmers, shopkeepers, small traders want to keep their mouths shut.

Bad ideology is getting heavier on good ideology. Much remains to be done from what we pledged during the war of independence. Parliament and the Legislature are the sacred temple of our Constitution, where the Constitution is protected. Then we also have to remember that our constitution is not made of such a building but is made up of emotions.
