A former Google engineer was sentenced to 18 months in prison and fined સા 8.5 million for stealing intelligence before joining Uber's efforts to build a robot. The engineer, Antony Lewandowski, pleaded guilty. A criminal case was filed against him in August last year. He confessed to the crime with the intention of getting a lesser sentence. A U.S. district court on Tuesday sentenced him to 18 months in prison and a 8.5 million fine.

Prior to joining Uber, he was instrumental in Google's automatic car scheme. Secret information about the scheme was then leaked.

In 2016, he started working in an auto company. The company was later bought by Uber. Lewandowski had quietly downloaded the technical details of Google's automatic car before leaving Google.
A criminal case was filed against Google in August last year when it came to know about this. He was advised by lawmakers that confessing to the crime would reduce the sentence, so he pleaded guilty in court.

This was his first offense. The court sentenced him to 18 months in prison and 8.5 million. Now her career was in jeopardy. It was doubtful whether he would get another good job when he was released from prison.
