New Delhi, Friday 21 August 2020

One person is enough to ignite a spark of change in the country, whether it is Martin Luther King in the United States or Gadhiji in India. Attempts are being made to oust President Alexander Lukashenko from power. At the center of the protests is a man who has emerged as a protagonist, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.

Until a few months ago, the country did not even know Svetlana, who is challenging the authority of the President of Belarus. The former teacher was away from Svetlana's politics, her husband Sergei Tikhanovskaya was the presidential candidate, but after she went to prison Svetlana took the front and fought the election, she campaigned all over the country and also handled children, against Svetlana's power in Belarus.

Svetlana left Belarus a few days after the election results were announced on August 14. She fled to Lithuania. Before the election, Svetlana sent her children to Lithuania because of the risk. Svetlana tried to complain to the authorities about the election results. Kept under arrest until he left the country, with those involved in his election campaign saying he was forced to leave the country.

Demonstrations are taking place to oust Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko. Lukashenko has been President of the country since July 1994. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992, Lukashenko took power in Belarus. The Soviet Union collapsed, but Lukashenko retained the KGB, the name given to him.

Experts believe that Belarus has held six presidential elections so far and does not consider any of them to be fair and transparent. The country's main news channel is also loyal to the government.
