Legal action against senior Samajwadi Party leader and Rampur MP Azam Khan, his wife MLA Tanjim Fatima and son Abdullah Azam is getting stronger. Chargesheets have been filed in 65 of the 69 cases against Azam Khan. In one case, the police have filed a final report.

The three cases in which chargesheets have not been filed are against BJP leader Jaya Prada for making indecent remarks and forging documents to grab Waqf's assets. According to Rampur Superintendent of Police Shagun Gautam, Azam Khan's role in the case and his involvement is being investigated and a chargesheet is being prepared to be filed soon.

Police had filed chargesheets in 48 cases against Azam Khan in January-February alone. Azam Khan, his wife and son then surrendered in court. In most cases the names of all three are registered. It is learned that Rampur police have also received some other complaints against Azam and are investigating his sincerity.

No anticipation of getting bail soon

Azam Khan's son Abdullah Azam had surrendered in court in a fake birth certificate case. Due to this his membership of the Legislative Assembly was also terminated. According to police, a total of 41 cases have been registered against Abdullah Azam out of which 38 cases have been filed by the police.

Apart from that, chargesheets have already been registered in two cases while deliberations are underway in one case. Police have filed chargesheets in all the 32 cases registered against Tanjim Fatima. The three are currently lodged in jails and as chargesheets have been registered against them in several cases, it is unlikely that they will get bail soon.
