Vikas Dubey, who was accused of killing eight policemen, including the CO, in Bikru village in Kanpur, was shot dead in a police encounter. The vehicle overturned while the STF convoy was bringing him from Ujjain to Kanpur and Vikas Dubey snatched the weapon and tried to flee. Vikas Dubey was later killed in a police clash.

Vikas Dubey was arrested from the premises of the Mahakal temple at Ujjain. Vikas, who fled the scene after the killing of eight police personnel, reached the temple for darshan after evading UP, Delhi, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh police. Vikas was interrogated at the police training center for two hours after his arrest and was handed over to the UP STF by the Madhya Pradesh police.

Shoot development for self-defense: ADG

UP ADG-Law and Order Prashant Kumar held a press conference after the encounter with Vikas Dubey. Vikas was asked to surrender but he did not comply, he said. He was repeatedly asked to surrender but refused, so the police shot him in self-defense.

Four police personnel, two STF commandos injured

Four civil police personnel, including a sub-inspector and a constable, were injured in a clash between police and Vikas Dubey after the accident. Apart from that, two STF commandos also sustained serious injuries.

In this regard, Congress leader Digvijay Singh has said that he already feared an encounter with Vikas Dubey. According to him, Vikas Dubey had a number of secrets which revealed which political leaders were involved, which were with the police, which officers were involved and so on.
