Vikas Dubey's wife says 'no property left for us'

Lucknow, Ta. 24 July 2020, Friday

The wife of infamous historian Vikas Dubey, who was killed by the Uttar Pradesh STF on July 10, has denied reports that her husband owns assets worth Rs 500 crore and has left the family wandering. Vikas, the main accused in the murder of eight policemen at midnight on July 2-3 in Bikru village in Kanpur, wanted to give his children a better future but did not want to leave the world of crime.

Vikas' wife Richa claimed in a TV interview on Thursday that her husband was leaving the family wandering. "People really needed it today," said Richa. He left nothing for us. People say that he left a fortune of Rs 500 crore but the reality is that I have nothing.

Responding to a question, Richa said the news that development is worth billions of rupees in Dubai and other countries and various parts of those countries is baseless. Do you think that the wife of a person who has assets worth crores of rupees lives in a 1,600 square feet house in Lucknow? According to Richa, she always persuaded her husband to get out of the world of crime but he was a man of different minds. He was also a good husband and father. He wanted his children to be able to study but he himself did not want to get out of the world of crime. He also used to beat me if I tried to explain more.

According to Richa, she did not like the atmosphere of her in-laws at Bikru village at all and wanted to keep her children away from the world of crime, so she moved to Lucknow in 2008. Richa said that if Vikas had disclosed his intentions before killing the police personnel, he would have done his best to prevent the incident. Apologizing to the wife of a police officer killed in the massacre, Richa said that if he had walked, he would have made himself a widow but would have stopped the act.

Vikas Dubey's men ambushed and attacked police personnel in the middle of the night on July 2-3 in Bikru village in Kanpur and eight police personnel lost their lives. Vikas was arrested on July 9 from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh in the case and was killed in an alleged collision with an STF on the road on July 10 while being brought to Kanpur from there. His wife was also questioned in the case.
