US bans Pakistani airlines full of bogus pilots

Washington, July 10, 2020, Friday

The US has also banned chartered flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) full of bogus pilots.

The U.S. Department of Transportation says the U.S. has made the decision following concerns raised by the Federal Aviation Administration over the pilot's certification.

Pakistan admitted last month that nearly a third of Pakistani airlines' pilots were bogusly licensed. Most countries around the world were shocked after Pakistan's confession. A number of countries have since banned Pakistani pilots from flying. Vietnam As well as Europe and other Muslim countries had banned Pakistani pilots.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has also suspended the authorization of PIA for 6 months.

A Pakistani media report said that the PIA had endorsed the US ban and would work to rectify the situation.

In May, 97 people were killed when a Pakistan Airlines plane crashed. It was later revealed that the licenses of many PIA pilots were bogus.
