UAE's first Mars mission 'Hope Probe' launched, praised by UN

Abu Dhabi, Ta. 20 July 2020, Monday

The first Mars mission Hope Probe of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken off from space today at the Tanegashima Space Center in Japan. The Hope Probe is working properly and is also sending signals after launch, according to a report by the UAE's space agency. In this regard, the United Nations (UN) praised the UAE's Mars mission as a contribution to the world.

According to Simonita de Pippo, director of the United Nations Office for Space Affairs, the UAE has always looked to the future and is a wonderful ally of the UN. "I'm really excited about the Hope Probe," he said in a Skype interview from Vienna. This proves that the UAE is actually becoming a major player in the space sector.

"It's very interesting that a country that didn't even have a space program or a space agency until a few years ago is now able to launch an investigation into Mars," De Pippo said of the Hope Probe launch.
