The scientist who first made the N-95 mask returned to work in the Corona era

The whole world is currently battling the corona virus and precaution is the only way to avoid the corona in which the mask is playing the biggest part. There are many types of masks available in the market today, including the N-95 mask and it is considered to be the most beneficial. Countries all over the world including India are producing this mask on their own but it is also important to know about the person who invented this mask first.

Peter Sai, an American scientist of Taiwanese origin, first created the N-95 mask and invented a synthetic fabric for it. Peter did this in 1995 and retired after a long stint two years ago. However, Peter returned to work earlier this year in March when the Corona virus spread from China to other parts of the world, including the United States.

In an interview, Peter said he felt health workers should be helped and that is why he decided to return to work. The N-95 mask is most commonly needed for people who are in direct contact with coronary heart disease. This includes doctors, nurses and other medical staff in particular. For the rest of the general public, the use of clinical masks or handkerchiefs is considered sufficient.

Peter is working for the mask anew as the challenges have increased so much in Corona’s time. He is currently working day and night at the Knoxville Research Foundation, working 20 hours a day. Their whole focus is to make the current mask more appropriate. According to him, they are currently working on a new method and are testing the mask by keeping it in the sun, in the oven and also washing it with soap and giving it steam.

One of Peter's most effective methods so far has been to keep the mask in a 160 degree dry heat for 30 minutes. This can be done by hanging the mask in the formula oven. However, even this method did not live up to their expectations.

Given the current situation, Peter suggests buying seven N-95 masks and wearing a new one every day. After taking off a mask, it should be hung in an isolated place and reused after seven days. According to Peter, even if a virus enters the mask, it will be inactivated in this way.
