The tea crop has suffered the most damage due to floods in Assam after the lockdown. At the same time, the nationwide lockdown has affected the tea crop. The absence of workers in the lockdown has affected production. Apart from this, many gardens in Assam have been submerged due to floods.
Tea production is likely to decline by 200 million kg due to the lockdown. Due to which the price of tea is likely to go up. The lockdown of rains and corona will now affect tea lovers as well. Both these conditions have caused so much damage to the tea crop that about 200 million kilograms of crops have been destroyed.
As a result, the price of tea in the domestic market has gone up by Rs 100 per kg. According to information received, some well-known companies like Hindustan Unilever, Tata Consumer Products and Waghbakari have hiked tea prices by 10-15 per cent.
Teak prices have risen at auction due to low crop production due to lockdowns and legacy. The ITA said that due to shortage of labor in Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri, less green tea leaves are being plucked. Which has affected production. Continuous rains in two districts are causing grid closure in gardens. Due to which the crop has decreased.
