PM Modi talks to Sonowal over Assam floods, assures all possible cooperation

Floods in Assam have killed three more people and brought the death toll to 105. Out of 33 districts in the region, 26.64 lakh people in 26 districts have been affected by the floods. In the midst of all this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal about the floods and assured the state of all possible cooperation.

Sonowal said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modiji on the phone this morning got the urgency of the situation in Assam over the floods, Kovid-19 and the fire at the Bagjan gas well." He expressed concern over the plight of the people and expressed his solidarity. The Prime Minister assured the state of all possible cooperation.

Assam flood situation

Three more people have been killed in Assam, including floods, bringing the death toll from the natural calamity to 105. 27.64 lakh people in 26 out of 33 districts of the region have been affected by the floods. The floods here have damaged houses, destroyed crops and damaged roads, bridges, etc. in many places.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority said in its daily flood report that two people were killed in Barpeta and one in South Salmara district. A total of 105 people have lost their lives, 26 of them due to landslides. This year, 90 animals have died in Kaziranga National Park due to rains.

According to Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, there is no problem with flood management as different teams of government employees have been deployed for floods and Kovid-19.

The number of flood-affected districts on Friday was 28 and the number of people affected was 35.76 lakh. The situation has declined in Hojai and West Karbi Anglong districts. More than 4.69 lakh people have been affected by the floods in Dhubri district.

SDRF, district administration and locals have rescued 511 people in the last 24 hours. At least 2,678 people are still submerged and 1,16,404 hectares of crops have been destroyed, according to a report.
