'Oxford vaccine' effective against corona: a new hope

North Korea, which claims no case, is also preparing the vaccine

London / Moscow, Ta. Monday, July 20, 2020

Of the various corona vaccines being developed worldwide, the results of two vaccines have been positive. Scientists at Oxford University in the UK have been working on the vaccine for months. The vaccine is proving useful.

The vaccine was tested on 1,000 people in April. Most of the results have been positive. Not only that, no special side effects of the vaccine were observed. The vaccine has been shown to be useful and safe, scientists said. Therefore, it will now be used on more patients.

Meanwhile, the vaccine Kovixin, made in India, was found to be safe and was approved for the first of two human trials. So AIMS started testing it on Monday. A total of 100 patients have been selected and dosed.

The 100 patients selected ranged in age from 18 to 55. If the test is positive, India can get the indigenous vaccine in two months. Russia, which claims to have found another vaccine, has stepped up testing.

Russian officials said another round of trials would begin on August 3. At that time, thousands of people will be vaccinated and the results will be tested. In addition to Russia, the vaccine will be tested in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. So that custom results of the vaccine can be obtained.

North Korea also wants to make a corona vaccine, claiming there is no case of corona itself. The North Korean science and technology department also claimed that the vaccine had reached clinical trials. Global experts are dismissing North Korea's claim that there is no Corona case.

Of all the vaccines, however, Oxford is at the forefront. The United States is also developing a vaccine that will be widely tested from July 27. There are a total of 26 vaccines in the world that have reached the stage of clinical trials. Russia claims that production of its vaccine will begin next month.

How many vaccines reached which stage?

Many countries, laboratories, medical institutes prepare vaccines. Once the vaccine is ready, there are a total of six stages of approval for human trials. The vaccine can be given to each patient in the sixth stage after going through five stages. Here are the details of how many vaccines have reached which stage.

* There are more than 135 vaccines that have not yet received human trial approval.

* There are 18 vaccines which are allowed to give limited doses as they seem safe.

* There are 12 vaccines that are being tested on a large number of people who are successful in limited doses.

* 4 out of 12 vaccines seem to be really successful and have been allowed to be tested on many people.

* 1 in 4 vaccines (Oxford) have been shown to be suitable for limited use.

Advice from Women Entrepreneur Kiran Majumdar

The government is already formulating a strategy for corona vaccination

Vaccines may not be affordable for everyone, so planning as soon as possible is necessary: Majumdar

(PTI) Bangalore, Ta. Monday, July 20, 2020

Women entrepreneur Kiran Majumdar Shaw advised that the corona vaccine would not be affordable to all citizens. The government should formulate a strategy for that from now on. The corona vaccine will come at the end of the year, but it will not be so affordable for everyone. It must be remedied now. Strategies should be devised before the vaccine is available for vaccination, said Kiran Majumdar Shaw, chairperson of Biocon.

He said that in a country like India, reaching out to all citizens is a daunting task. Suppose the corona vaccine is discovered later this year or early next year, then the vaccination process will have to start in India. This requires systematic planning from now on.

If the government plans to start immunization in the most infected areas now, vaccinating 20 per cent of the population will immediately stop the spread of the virus, but 20 per cent of the country's population will also be around 20 to 30 crore. If such a large number of vaccines do not arrive overnight, planned measures will have to be taken from now on. Probably 100 million or 80 million doses will be produced in a month. So it should be decided from now on which 100 million citizens should be reached first.

The government will have to consider the potential cost in addition to the potential population. The point of view of pharma companies must also be understood. Citizens' budgets must also be considered. "We have to be proactive from now on if we are to find the right path by maintaining a balance between all," he said.
