Make the central government a party too, the pilot group filed in the High Court

Jaipur 23rd July 2020 Thursday

New twists and turns are emerging in Rajasthan's politics these days. A legislator belonging to the Sachin Pilot group had filed a petition in the Rajasthan High Court seeking that the Center be made a party in the ongoing defection case.

MLA Prithviraj Meena's plea argued that since the issue of constitutional provision was becoming important in the Sachin Pilot Group case, the Center should also be considered as a party in the case. Prithviraj Meena Sachin is believed to be a supporter of the pilot group.

It may be recalled here that the representation of Sachin Pilot Group has been completed in the High Court and the High Court has reserved its judgment. The Speaker was instructed not to take any action till July 24. The Speaker had moved the Supreme Court against the High Court's decision. The Speaker argues that the High Court should not interfere in the Speaker's jurisdiction only on the issue of causal notice. The Speaker has the right to give reasoned notice to any MLA.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that attempts by the ruling party to destabilize his legally elected government should be stopped. Thus the case of Rajasthan now seemed to be stuck in a different way. Sachin Pilot had sent a legal notice to MLA Giriraj Malinga on Wednesday morning alleging bribery against him.

Earlier, the Congress party had also openly accused the ruling BJP of trying to destabilize states under Congress rule and openly promoting defections.
