Kerala gold smuggling case: Swapna Suresh files anticipatory bail in HC

Authorities on Sunday seized more than 30 kg of gold in luggage delivered by air cargo at the international airport in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. Swapna Suresh, accused in the case, has applied to the Kerala High Court for anticipatory bail. The court will set a date today to consider his application.

Swapna Suresh, a former commercial officer of the UAE, is the main accused in the case. Its strings are connected to a political consignment related to the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, the name of the Chief Minister's Office in Kerala is also coming up in this case.

It is to be mentioned that as soon as the name of Swapna Suresh came up in the whole case, there was an earthquake in the politics of Kerala. Pictures of Swapna with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan are also going viral. However, the chief minister said he was ready for an inquiry. After getting a job at the UAE Consulate, Swapna started expanding her acquaintance with other people.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijay on Wednesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a strict probe into the matter. "I would like to draw your attention to the case of 30 kg of gold seized by customs officials at Thiruvananthapuram airport on July 5," Vijay said in a letter to the PM.

Vijay further wrote that the fact is that there was an attempt to smuggle 30 kg of gold in the name of diplomacy. This case is very serious. There are several firsts in this case. I urge that the matter be thoroughly investigated by all the concerned central agencies.

Deal Woman's name is famous

Police learned that the gold smuggling gang was smuggling gold through models and actresses. When further inquiries were made, it was found out that Swapna Suresh is the Deal Woman. They were expelled after the gang was caught in a serious case.
