New delhi date. Monday, July 6, 2020

Congress President Rahul Gandhi has left no stone unturned in encircling the Modi government over the ongoing border dispute with China and infiltration into the Galvan Valley. But today BJP president JP Nadda accused Rahul Gandhi of constantly discouraging the country and questioning the heroism of the army but he never attended a meeting of the parliamentary defense committee.

JP Nadda's allegation is enough to bring the Congress on its backfoot and also at a time when Rahul Gandhi is constantly aggressive on the government on the China issue. While checking the details of the Defense Affairs Committee and its meetings on the Lok Sabha website to investigate Nadda's allegations, some important information has come to light. The chairman of the parliamentary committee on defense is Juel Oram, a BJP MP from Orissa. The committee consists of 21 members of Lok Sabha and 10 members of Rajya Sabha. The list of Lok Sabha members also includes Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.

How many times has the meeting been missed so far
According to the Lok Sabha website, the first meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense was held on December 27, 2019 and the last meeting was held on March 12, 2020. The seat has been held 11 times since then.

How many times did Rahul Gandhi get involved in the meeting
According to the website, Rahul Gandhi did not attend the meeting even once. However, a maximum of 20 members were present when the first meeting of the committee was held. It also does not have the name of Rahul Gandhi. However, it has never happened in any meeting that all the members of the committee were present.

The committee also organized a tour
The Parliamentary Committee on Defense Affairs organized tours to Gangtok, Nathula Pass, Guwahati, Tawanga, Shillong, etc. between November 4 and 9 last year for the study. However, Rahul Gandhi's name is not in this tour either.

BJP president JP Nadda's tweet
BJP president JP Nadda wrote in his tweet, “Rahul Gandhi is associated with a glorious dynastic tradition where committees have no significance. There are many deserving members in the Congress who understand parliamentary issues but one dynasty will never allow such leaders to move forward. In another tweet, Nadda wrote that despite being a member of the Defense Committee, Rahul Gandhi does not attend a single meeting which is disappointing. At the same time, more sadly, they are constantly demoralizing the nation, questioning the heroism of our armed forces and doing everything a responsible opposition leader should not do.

What are these parliamentary committees
Parliamentary committees are a kind of mini-parliament. This includes almost all party members who are elected. The function of these parliamentary committees is to assist in various issues of Parliament. Gives his own report and opinion to Parliament on the work for which he is designed.

It may be mentioned that the Standing Committees of Parliament for the 17th Lok Sabha were constituted on 14 September 2019. In which BJP MP Juel Oravan was made the chairman of the parliamentary committee on defense matters. Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was elected as a member of the parliamentary standing committee attached to the defense ministry. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was a member of a parliamentary committee attached to the External Affairs Ministry in the last Lok Sabha.
