In an effort to curb the spread of Corona, Kuwait banned citizens of a total of nine countries, including India, from entering Kuwait. The ban was likely to adversely affect at least nine million people.

According to an Arab News report, the Kuwaiti government has announced since August 1 that citizens from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran and the Philippines will not be allowed to enter Kuwait. The Foreign Office of the Government of India was aware of this and efforts were being made to resolve the issue, a government spokesperson said.

Rajpal Tyagi, chairman of the India Community Support Group, said thousands of Indians returning home in the wake of the Corona would lose their jobs due to the Kuwaiti government's decision. He said there were thousands of Indian families, some of whom had gone home in the wake of the Koro epidemic and some had stayed here.

People who have gone home cannot return here now. Under these circumstances, thousands of Indians will lose their jobs. The ban has been in place since August 1, so those who have not returned to Kuwait by Friday evening will have their entry permits automatically revoked.

The Kuwaiti government, on the other hand, had decided to resume international flights, which had been suspended for the past three and a half months, from August 1. The India Community Support Group wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the External Affairs Minister urging them to take action.

A Government of India spokesperson said the matter is under the government's notice and it is likely that the government will take some action for Indian jobs.
