Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has accused the Centre's Narendra Modi government of leaving no stone unturned in making profits from the poor even in times of crisis. According to Rahul, Indian Railways is struggling to make a profit even though the country is clouded by disease. Rahul Gandhi tweeted about a report in which he made such a comment.

The report shared by Rahul Gandhi in his tweet mentions that Indian Railways earned Rs 428 crore through labor special trains during the Corona era. Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "Clouds of disease are hovering, people are in trouble, can take advantage - anti-poor government is making money by turning crisis into profit."

Millions of workers were trapped in the lockdown

Millions of workers from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha were stranded in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Surat and Ahmedabad when a nationwide lockdown was imposed on March 25 due to the Koro transition. The government later arranged for a special labor train to transport the workers to their homes, and millions of people returned to their homes by these trains.

There was controversy over the rent

There was also controversy over the fare of these labor trains. When labor trains began, states announced no fares from laborers. It also included states like Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh. However, according to a complaint lodged by laborers returning from Gujarat, Mumbai and Delhi, the fare was taken from them while they were returning from the train.

Explaining this, the central government said that 85 per cent of the cost of the yatra is being borne by the central government and 15 per cent by the state governments. According to central government officials, some states are lagging behind in the process.
