Lok Sabha MP and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today distributed electric chalk to the potter community in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency via video conference from New Delhi.

The electric chalk was distributed to about 100 trained artisans under the 'Kumbar Empowerment Scheme' run by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission for the empowerment of the potter community under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' campaign and to make them self-reliant.

On this occasion, Amit Shah said, "I hope that the Commission will continue its efforts for the empowerment of the underprivileged and weaker sections and this 'Potter Empowerment Scheme' will prove to be an important step towards making the entire potter community self-reliant."

Carriers of Indian sculpture can make the lives of our pottery community brothers and sisters easier by connecting them with current techniques and also increase their productivity.

Significant work is being done to revive the traditional art of pottery as well as to strengthen the marginal pottery community through the 'Potter Empowerment Scheme', which will prove to be a major step towards empowering this particular community.

This electric chalk by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an invaluable gift to the potter community of Gujarat. On the occasion, Amit Shah also interacted with five trained artisans who were trained by the commission to make pottery.

Amit Shah assured the entire Prajapati community that arrangements would be made to establish a proper channel system, including an agreement with the railways, for the sale of their products.
