Corona born to a shepherd in a village in Karnataka, 47 goats quarantined, samples sent for investigation

In Karnataka, 47 goats have been quarantined after a shepherd's corona report came back positive. The new case is from Godkere village in Tumkur district, about 127 km from Bengaluru. There are about 300 houses in Gauralhatti taluka, said an official of the district's animal husbandry department. The population is about 1,000 and two people from the village, including a shepherd, have tested positive for corona.

At the same time, the villagers are scared after the suspicious death of four goats. According to the villagers, some goats are facing breathing problems.

Swab sample delivered to Bhopal

District cattle officers arrived in the village on Tuesday and they quarantined the goats outside the village. Apart from that samples of goat swabs were taken. According to officials, the collected samples were sent to the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Medicine, Bhopal.

According to Animal Husbandry Secretary P Manivannan, the whole matter is under his notice. The dead goats have been postmortem and samples of the goats have been sent to the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals (IAHVB) Bengaluru.

'The virus does not spread from man to animal'

The director of IAHVB, Dr. "No case has been reported so far that the virus has spread from humans to animals," said SM Byregauda. Samples have been sent to Bhopal as we do not have a test kit at present.
